Exhibition „Women Astronomers”

On April 28, 2025, the exhibition “AstrónomAs” (“Women Astronomers” in English) was opened at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University. It is designed to draw attention to the role of women and girls in the world, break gender stereotypes, encourage women to pursue a career in science, and increase young people’s interest in science, especially astronomy. The exhibition was organized at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Lithuania and the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University (VU FF TFAI). On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, the participants were greeted by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Maria Nieves Blanco Diaz, Vice-Rector for Communication of Vytautas Magnus University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vilma Bijeikienė, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Saulius Mickevičius, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​Dr. Teresė Ringailienė. We would like to thank the astrophysicist of the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University (VU FF TFAI) Dr. Carlos Viscasillas Vázquez, graduates of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University, VU researchers Dr. Edita Stonkute and Dr. Šarūnas Mikolaičius for the opportunity to present the exhibition „AstrónomAs” at Vytautas Magnus University. During the exhibition, the FEMSTEM project (2023-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000155347) was presented.
